■ Youth Fest proves big success

An event in Cambourne which attracted thousands of visitors has been hailed a "great success".

The Cambourne Youth Fest featured a climbing wall, power-kiting, pony riding and a host of other events.

In just its third year the day out is proving more and more popular – growing from 500 visitors in its first year to around 5,000 people at the weekend.

David McEwan-Cox, of the Cambourne Youth Partnership, said: "It was a great success and gives children from all sorts of backgrounds a chance to experience things they would not otherwise have access to.

"We do our absolute best to keep everything free – from entrance to the activities. Some carry a nominal fee but the stress is on accessibility."

He added the organisers were hoping to have an even bigger event next year and were already looking for sponsorship.
