The Duke of Gloucester has officially opened Cambourne's new church.

His Royal Highness unveiled a plaque at the Cambourne Church centre on Jeavons Lane today.

He also planted a tree.

The new church was set up together by the Church of England, the Baptist Church, the Methodist Church and the United Reformed Church. The Church Centre is also used by the local Roman Catholic community.

The church centre is home to a café and several community groups as well as being a place of worship for residents.

The church hopes to extend the building as soon as additional funds are available. This will include break out rooms and a quiet chapel.
